Tejano music icon Shelly Lares released one of the best albums of 2019 with “Obra De Amor” in March. She spoke about the success of the highly-anticipated album, her first since the passing of her father Fred Lares in 2016, and much more in an interview with “Domingo Live” this week.

“Little Miss Dynamite,” who is celebrating 37 years in Tejano music, added she supports today’s young Tejano talent and mentors many as she was mentored by another iconic singer Patsy Torres.

“In order for us (Tejano) to grow, we have to be supportive,” said Lares. “Tejano music is the best music in the world. I feel like we are the most versatile artists, musicians, fans. I mean, I don’t think anybody can touch us.”

Lares shared details on her next project that will also feature Torres.

“It is all Orquesta oriented because that’s where I started,” she said. “It’s going to be great!”
